|QS World University Ranking in 2019, American Universities have been in the dominant position for seven consecutive years
On June 7, 2018, QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), a global higher education research institute, published the 15th QS World University Rank in 2019, which includes 1,000 universities in the world and spans 85 different countries and regions.
This paper presents the current situation of higher education institutions in the global context from three aspects:
global reputation, the quality and influence of academic output and the degree of internationalization.
This is ranked as one of the most notable universities in the world and attracts much attention.
QS World University Ranking is based on the following six quantitative indicators:
(a) Academic reputation (40%):
tens of thousands of valid answers based on QS Global Academic Reputation Questionnaire over the past five years.
Participants voted for leading universities in this field, but could not vote for their own schools.
QS claims that regional balance is taken into account in the calculation.
B) Graduates'Reputation (10%):
Based on QS, tens of thousands of valid answers were returned to employers' questionnaires worldwide.
Participants voted for the source of graduate schools that they most appreciated.
C) Teacher-student ratio (20%):
based on the proportion of students to teachers, to reflect the quality of teaching.
D) Paper citation (20%):
based on the average citation per Faculty of each faculty in the past five years to reflect the quality of research; calculated using Scopus database.
E) International faculty (5%):
based on the proportion of international faculty to reflect the degree of internationalization.
